गणेश चतुर्थी की सरल कहानी
एक बार माता पार्वती ने अपने शरीर के उबटन से एक बालक बनाया और उसमें प्राण डाल दिए। उन्होंने उस बालक को द्वार पर पहरा देने के लिए कहा और निर्देश दिया कि जब तक वे स्नान कर रही हैं, किसी को अंदर न आने देना।
कुछ समय बाद भगवान शिव वहां आए और अंदर जाने लगे। बालक ने उन्हें रोक दिया क्योंकि वह अपनी माता की आज्ञा का पालन कर रहा था। भगवान शिव ने समझाया, लेकिन बालक नहीं माना। इससे शिवजी क्रोधित हो गए और युद्ध में बालक का सिर काट दिया।
जब माता पार्वती बाहर आईं और उन्होंने अपने पुत्र को मृत देखा, तो वे बहुत दुखी और क्रोधित हो गईं। उन्होंने भगवान शिव से अपने पुत्र को जीवित करने की प्रार्थना की। तब भगवान शिव ने अपने गणों को उत्तर दिशा में मिले पहले जीव का सिर लाने को कहा। गणों को एक हाथी का सिर मिला, जिसे शिवजी ने बालक के शरीर पर स्थापित कर दिया और उसे फिर से जीवित कर दिया।
भगवान शिव ने उस बालक को “गणेश” नाम दिया और वरदान दिया कि हर शुभ कार्य से पहले गणेश जी की पूजा की जाएगी। इसी कारण गणेश चतुर्थी भगवान गणेश जी के जन्मोत्सव के रूप में मनाई जाती है।

Once, Goddess Parvati created a young boy from the turmeric paste of her body and gave him life. She asked him to guard the entrance while she was bathing and instructed him not to allow anyone inside.
After some time, Lord Shiva came and tried to enter. The boy stopped him because he was obeying his mother’s order. Lord Shiva explained, but the boy did not allow him to enter. This made Lord Shiva angry, and during the conflict, he cut off the boy’s head.
When Goddess Parvati came out and saw her son lifeless, she became deeply sad and angry. She requested Lord Shiva to bring him back to life. Lord Shiva then asked his attendants to bring the head of the first living being found in the north direction. They found an elephant’s head, which Lord Shiva placed on the boy’s body and brought him back to life.
Lord Shiva named him “Ganesha” and blessed him that he would be worshipped before every auspicious work. This is why Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birth festival of Lord Ganesha.
